The ISCAR 5699770 is a solid carbide milling insert carrying the ISO designation SEHT 1204AFN-P and manufacturer grade IC20. It is a square-shaped, single-sided insert with a neutral hand orientation, a positive rake geometry, and a sharp cutting edge style. With four usable cutting edges per insert and an uncoated (bright) finish, the 5699770 is engineered for face and shoulder milling operations where a clean, sharp edge is required for consistent chip formation. It fits toolholders in the ISCARMILL F45ST cutter series and is held in place by a screw-on mounting method. The P-style chip breaker supports controlled chip evacuation across a range of workpiece materials.
This insert is suited for machining stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials, covering ISO material codes M, K, N, S, and H. It is a fit for production and job-shop environments where a single insert geometry must handle material variety. Typical applications include face milling, shoulder milling, and light profiling cuts on machining centers or CNC milling machines. The maximum depth of cut is 0.256 inches (6.50 mm), making it appropriate for moderate stock-removal passes rather than heavy roughing.
Designed for use with the ISCARMILL F45ST cutter series. Compatible toolholders must accept a screw-on SEHT-style square insert with a 1/2-inch inscribed circle. Verify toolholder pocket geometry and insert seating requirements before installation.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or tooling technicians. De-energize and lock out the machine spindle before changing inserts. Use the correct torx or hex key specified by the toolholder manufacturer when tightening the insert clamping screw — do not overtighten, as carbide inserts are brittle and can crack under excessive clamp force. Inspect the insert pocket and seating surface for chips or debris before seating the new insert.
