The ISCAR 5698296 is a square milling insert designed for face and shoulder milling operations in demanding machining environments. It carries the ISO designation SEHW 1204AFTN and manufacturer grade IC328, a solid carbide substrate with a PVD-applied TiCN coating engineered for wear resistance and thermal stability. The insert measures 0.5000 inches in both length and width with a thickness of 0.1870 inches and delivers a maximum depth of cut of 0.2560 inches. The AFTN chip breaker geometry and positive rake angle promote efficient chip evacuation and reduced cutting forces. Four usable cutting edges per insert extend tool life and reduce per-edge cost on high-production runs.

Installation is performed by a qualified CNC machinist or toolroom technician. Always power down the machine spindle and engage the machine lock before seating or replacing inserts. Use the appropriate torx or hex key as specified by the cutter body manufacturer when tightening the screw clamp - do not overtighten, as this can fracture the carbide substrate. Inspect the insert pocket and clamping screw for wear or debris before each insert change.
