The ISCAR 5668683 is a solid carbide milling insert in the MILLSHRED series, designed for high-performance face and shoulder milling operations on difficult-to-machine materials. It carries the ANSI/ISO designation P290 ACKT 1806PDR-FWP and is manufactured to the IC840 grade with a PVD-applied multilayer coating of AlTiN, TiAlSiN, and TiSiN. The insert features a positive rake geometry, a parallelogram (ACKT) shape with an 85-degree included angle, and a segmented cutting edge style that breaks chips aggressively during interrupted or continuous cuts. At 6.00 mm thick with a 1.20 mm corner radius and a maximum depth of cut of 0.7090 inches, it is built for rigidity and edge stability under high feed conditions. Screw-on holding method provides secure clamping in compatible P290 cutter bodies.
This insert is intended for milling stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium — workpiece material codes M and S — where heat resistance and edge toughness are critical. It is a right-hand, single-sided insert with two cutting edges per insert. The FWP chip breaker geometry promotes efficient chip evacuation in these gummy, work-hardening materials. Typical applications include shoulder milling, face milling, and slotting operations in aerospace, medical device, and general precision machining environments. Installation requires compatible P290-series cutter bodies. MOQ is 10 units; package quantity is 1.
Designed for use with P290-series MILLSHRED cutter bodies. Insert size code is 1806; confirm cutter body pocket specifications before ordering. Cutter series compatibility is listed as P290 in manufacturer data.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or tooling technicians using the screw-on clamping method standard to P290-series cutter bodies. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before changing inserts. Seat the insert fully in the pocket and torque the clamping screw to the value specified in the cutter body documentation — do not estimate torque. Inspect the pocket seating surface for chips or damage before installation to avoid insert rocking or premature edge failure.
