The ISCAR 5668241 is a solid carbide milling insert in the HELITANG series, designed for high-performance metal removal in demanding milling operations. This double-sided, negative-rake insert carries the ANSI designation T490 LNMT 1106PNTR IC808 and features four cutting edges with a helical cutting edge style. The IC808 grade uses a submicron carbide substrate with a multilayer Sumotec PVD coating of TiAlN, AlTiN, and TiN, delivering wear resistance and thermal stability across a broad range of workpiece materials. The insert measures 11.30 mm thick and 6.00 mm wide, with a corner radius of 0.80 mm and a maximum depth of cut of 9.00 mm. It is held in the cutter body by a screw clamp and is compatible with T490 LNK11 cutter bodies.
This insert is suited for milling applications on steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials (ISO material codes P, M, K, S, and H). It is intended for use in T490-series face and shoulder milling cutters in production machining environments. Machinists and CNC operators working in job shops, aerospace, energy, and general metalworking will find the IC808 grade appropriate for both roughing and semi-finishing passes where tool life and edge stability are priorities. The right-hand, double-sided configuration maximizes cost-per-edge value in high-volume runs.
Compatible with T490 LNK11 series cutter bodies. ANSI code T490 LNMT 1106PNTR IC808; ISO code T490 LNMT 1106PNTR. Conforms to ANSI and ISO 13399 standards.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before changing inserts. Seat the insert firmly in the pocket and torque the clamping screw to the value specified in the T490 LNK11 cutter body documentation — do not rely on feel alone. Inspect the insert pocket and locating surfaces for chips or debris before seating a new insert, as contamination will affect runout and edge life.
