The ISCAR 5668057 is a solid carbide milling insert carrying the ANSI designation OECR 060405AER in grade IC808, part of the HELIOCTO series. This octagon-shaped, single-sided insert features 8 cutting edges, a positive rake geometry, and a sharp cutting edge style suited for high-productivity milling applications. The multilayer Sumotec PVD coating — TiAlN, AlTiN, and TiN — applied via physical vapor deposition, delivers thermal resistance and edge wear protection across a broad range of workpiece materials. The insert measures 0.5689 inches in inscribed circle diameter and 0.1930 inches thick, with a corner radius of 0.0197 inches (0.50 mm). It is held in the cutter body by screw clamping and is compatible with neutral-hand toolholders.
This insert is designed for milling steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials, making it suitable for general-purpose and demanding production environments in aerospace, automotive, die-mold, and heavy equipment machining. The AER chip breaker geometry supports effective chip control at moderate to aggressive depths of cut up to 0.1460 inches (3.70 mm). The submicron carbide substrate contributes to toughness and edge integrity when machining difficult ISO P, M, K, S, and H material groups. Licensed machinists and CNC tooling technicians typically specify and install this insert in horizontal and vertical milling centers.
Compatible with HELIOCTO series cutter bodies HOF-R06 and HOE-R06 as specified by the manufacturer. Conforms to ANSI and ISO 13399 standards with ANSI code OECR 060405AER IC808 and ISO code OECR 060405AER.
Installation is performed by CNC tooling technicians or machining professionals. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before replacing inserts. Seat the insert fully in the pocket and secure with the clamping screw to the toolholder manufacturer's specified procedure using a calibrated torque driver. Inspect the insert pocket and seating surface for chips or debris before installation to prevent improper seating and premature edge failure.
