The ISCAR 5666725 is a solid carbide milling insert designed for use in HELI3MILL series face and shoulder milling cutters. Carrying the ANSI and ISO 13399 designation HM390 TDKT 150516-PDR IC830, this triangular insert features three helical cutting edges and a positive rake geometry. The IC830 grade uses a PVD-applied AlTiN and TiN Sumotec coating that provides wear resistance and thermal stability at the cutting edge. With a 0.2290 inch thickness, a 0.6460 inch width and length, and a 0.0630 inch corner radius, the insert is engineered for demanding metal removal in steel and difficult-to-machine alloys. It is installed by licensed machinists and CNC machine operators in production and job shop environments.
This insert is applied in milling operations targeting steel, stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium. The PDR chip breaker geometry supports positive cutting action suited for roughing and semi-finishing passes. The right-hand cutting orientation and screw-holding method are standard for HM390-15 cutter bodies. Typical applications include shoulder milling, face milling, and helical interpolation on CNC machining centers. The maximum depth of cut reaches 0.4920 inches (12.50 mm), making it effective for moderate-to-aggressive material removal in production settings.

Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before changing inserts. Use the appropriate Torx or hex key driver specified for the cutter body screw to seat the insert flush against the pocket without rocking. Inspect the pocket seating surfaces for chips or burrs before installing a new insert to ensure proper contact and avoid premature edge failure.
