The ISCAR 5623118 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for precision milling in demanding metalworking applications. With a 1/2 inch diameter, 0.01 inch corner radius, and four right-hand helical flutes at a medium 38-degree helix angle, this tool delivers both roughing and finishing capability in a single pass. An AlTiN (aluminum titanium nitride) PVD coating provides thermal resistance and extended tool life when cutting hard and abrasive workpiece materials. The submicron carbide grade supports tight tolerances and consistent edge integrity across high-cycle production runs. Machinists and tooling specialists install this end mill in compatible straight-shank toolholders.
The 5623118 belongs to ISCAR Series ECI-E-4R and is suited for milling steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials in both roughing and finishing operations. The medium-length flute configuration and 1 inch length of cut make it well matched to general-purpose side milling, slotting, and profile work on CNC machining centers. The center-cutting geometry allows plunge entry, expanding its usefulness in pocketing operations. Shank diameter tolerance is h6, supporting precise fit in collet chucks and hydraulic toolholders.
Designed for use with standard straight-shank toolholders. Compatible primary workpiece materials include steel (P), stainless steel (M), cast iron (K), superalloys and titanium (S), and hard materials (H) per ISO material classification. Part of the ISCAR ECI-E-4R series.
Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before inserting or removing the end mill from the toolholder. Verify collet or chuck bore is clean and free of chips before seating the shank. Consult the machine tool manufacturer and ISCAR cutting data recommendations for appropriate speeds, feeds, and depth of cut before beginning production cuts.
