The ISCAR 5622478 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for demanding metal removal in professional machining environments. Built on the EFFI-S4/S6 series platform, it features a 1/2 inch diameter, a 0.120 inch corner radius, and a TiAlN PVD coating that extends tool life in high-heat cutting conditions. With four flutes, right-hand flute direction, and right-hand cutting direction, it is suited for both roughing and finishing operations. The extra-long length type and 3.000 inch overall length allow access to deep features where standard-reach tools fall short. Machinists and CNC operators working in job shops, tool rooms, and production environments will find it appropriate for a wide range of precision milling applications.
This end mill is rated for use on steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials, corresponding to ISO material codes P, M, K, S, and H. The 0.827 inch length of cut and 1.300 inch reach length make it effective for slot milling, profiling, and contouring in deep pockets or on tall workpiece features. The straight-cylindrical shank at 1/2 inch diameter fits standard ER and straight-bore toolholders. It is a single-end tool with no chipbreaker and is not center-cutting, so plunge entry requires a pre-drilled hole or ramping strategy.
Compatible with standard toolholders accepting a 1/2 inch straight-cylindrical shank. Mill diameter tolerance is e9 and shank diameter tolerance is h6. Designed for use with toolholders as specified by the manufacturer.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC setup technicians. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the tool is secured in a clean, properly sized collet or end mill holder before tightening to the toolholder manufacturer's specification. Because this tool is not center-cutting, avoid direct plunge entry — use a ramping or helical interpolation entry path. Verify runout with a dial indicator after clamping, and confirm chip evacuation strategy before beginning cuts in deep pockets.
