The ISCAR 5620898 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precision metal removal in CNC machining and manual milling operations. Built from IC900-grade carbide with a TiAlN coating, this end mill handles demanding cutting in materials including hardened steels, cast iron, stainless steels, carbon steels, and high-temperature alloys. The 3-flute, 38-degree spiral helix geometry promotes efficient chip evacuation and smooth surface finishes. At 0.5 inches in diameter with a 1-inch length of cut, it suits slotting, profiling, and peripheral milling passes where tool rigidity and heat resistance are critical. A Weldon flat shank at 0.5 inches diameter provides positive drive retention in milling chucks and collet holders.
This end mill is suited for production and job-shop environments running ferrous and exotic alloy workpieces. The right-hand cut, right-hand flute configuration is standard for conventional CNC vertical and horizontal machining centers. The TiAlN coating extends tool life at elevated cutting temperatures, making this tool appropriate for dry or minimum-quantity lubrication (MQL) machining strategies. It is installed by machinists and CNC setup technicians in light manufacturing, aerospace, and general metalworking shops.
Compatible with workpiece material codes H, K, M, P, and S, covering hardened steels, cast irons, stainless steels, carbon and alloy steels, and high-temperature or titanium alloys. Fits standard 0.5-inch milling chucks, collet holders, and Weldon-flat set-screw tool holders.
Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before mounting or removing the end mill. Seat the Weldon flat squarely against the set screw in the tool holder to achieve full drive contact before tightening. Verify runout with a dial indicator after tool installation and before initiating a cutting program to confirm proper seating.
