The ISCAR 5607743 is a solid carbide milling insert designated HM390 TPKT 1003PDR in grade IC5400, designed for use in the HELI3MILL series of face and shoulder milling cutters. The insert features a triangular shape with three cutting edges, a positive rake geometry, and a helical cutting edge style that reduces cutting forces and supports smooth chip evacuation. A multilayer MTCVD coating of TiCN, Al2O3, and TiN provides wear resistance and thermal stability suited to steel and stainless steel machining. With a maximum depth of cut of 0.3940 inches and a 1/32-inch corner radius, this insert handles both roughing and semi-finishing operations. Installation and indexing are performed by machining technicians or CNC setup personnel.
This insert is engineered for milling steel and stainless steel workpieces in applications where consistent tool life and predictable chip control are required. It is used in production milling environments on vertical and horizontal machining centers. The PDR chip breaker designation targets right-hand cutting with a screw-clamped insert holding method, making it appropriate for high-volume face milling, shoulder milling, and pocketing operations within the HM390-10 cutter platform. Typical users include CNC machinists and tool crib personnel sourcing replacement inserts for established HELI3MILL tooling assemblies.
Compatible with HM390-10 series milling cutter bodies. ANSI code HM390 TPKT 1003PDR IC5400. ISO code HM390 TPKT 1003PDR. Designed for the HELI3MILL cutter platform using screw-style insert clamping.
Insert indexing and replacement should be performed by qualified machining personnel with the spindle fully stopped and machine power locked out per shop lockout/tagout procedures. Use the appropriate torx or hex key to seat the clamping screw to the tool body manufacturer's recommended seating procedure without over-torquing. Inspect the pocket seating surface and clamping screw for wear or debris before installing a fresh insert. Confirm insert orientation matches the right-hand cutting direction before resuming operation.
