The ISCAR 5607513 is a solid carbide milling insert carrying the ANSI designation HM390 TPKT 1003PDR IC808. It is a triangular, single-sided insert designed for use in HELI3MILL face and shoulder milling operations. The insert features a positive rake geometry and a helical cutting edge style, which reduces cutting forces and heat generation during metal removal. Manufactured from submicron solid carbide and finished with a multilayer PVD coating — TiAlN, AlTiN, and TiN — under ISCAR's Sumotec PVD classification, the IC808 grade delivers wear resistance and toughness across a broad range of workpiece materials. Thickness is 0.1520 inches, and the corner radius is 0.0315 inches (1/32 inch). The insert is screw-held and right-hand oriented.
This insert is suited for milling steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials, covering ISO material groups P, M, K, S, and H. The PDR chip breaker geometry is optimized for controlled chip formation across these material types. Typical applications include face milling, shoulder milling, and ramping operations in both roughing and finishing passes where consistent edge life and reliable chip evacuation are priorities. Installation is performed by machinists and tooling technicians in production machining and job-shop environments.
Designed for use with HM390-10 series cutter bodies. Compatible cutter series designation is HM390-10 as specified by the manufacturer. Verify cutter pocket geometry and insert seat dimensions against the toolholder specification before installation.
This insert is installed by machinists or tooling technicians using the screw-clamp method standard to indexable milling systems. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before indexing or replacing inserts. Use the correct torque driver for the clamping screw to avoid seat damage — refer to the toolholder manufacturer's torque specification. Inspect the insert pocket and clamping screw for wear or debris before seating the new insert.
