The ISCAR 5607509 is a solid carbide milling insert carrying the manufacturer designation HM390 TDCT 1505PDR IC808. It belongs to the HELI3MILL (HM390-15) series and is designed for high-feed shoulder milling operations. The insert features a triangular TDCT style with three cutting edges, a positive rake geometry, and a helical cutting edge style that reduces cutting forces and improves chip evacuation. The IC808 grade substrate is a submicron solid carbide coated with a multilayer PVD Sumotec system combining TiAlN, AlTiN, and TiN layers. This coating delivers high wear resistance and thermal stability across a broad range of workpiece materials. Licensed machinists and CNC tooling technicians are the primary installers and users of this insert.
This insert is suited for milling steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials, covering ISO material groups P, M, K, S, and H. The PDR chip breaker geometry supports interrupted cuts and finishing-to-semi-finishing passes. It mounts via screw-holding method in compatible HM390-15 series toolholders. Typical applications include shoulder milling and helical interpolation on CNC machining centers in both job-shop and production environments.
Designed for use in ISCAR HM390-15 series milling cutter bodies. The ANSI code is HM390 TDCT 1505PDR IC808 and the ISO code is HM390 TDCT 1505PDR, conforming to ANSI and ISO 13399 standards.
Installation and indexing should be performed by qualified CNC tooling technicians or machinists. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is locked out before changing inserts. Use the appropriate Torx or hex key as specified by the toolholder manufacturer to seat the clamping screw; do not overtighten by feel alone — follow the toolholder manufacturer torque guidance. Inspect the insert pocket and seating surface for chips or debris before seating a new insert to ensure proper contact and runout.
