Product Description

The ISCAR 5607302 is a solid carbide milling insert in the HELIDO series, carrying the ANSI designation H490 ANKX 170616PNTR IC830. This double-sided, parallelogram-shaped insert features four cutting edges with a helical cutting edge style and a negative rake geometry. It is coated with an AlTiN and TiN multilayer via a PVD process using ISCAR Sumotec PVD classification, targeting high wear resistance in demanding milling operations. At 0.413 inches thick with an inscribed circle of 0.433 inches and a maximum depth of cut of 0.394 inches, it is sized for the H490 ANK17 cutter series. Installation is performed by machinists and tooling technicians on CNC milling platforms.

This insert is designed for milling steel, stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium, corresponding to ISO material groups P, M, and S. The PNTR chip breaker geometry supports these difficult-to-machine materials. The right-hand orientation and screw-type holding method make it compatible with standard H490 ANK17 cutter bodies. Typical applications include shoulder milling, pocket milling, and general-purpose face milling in production environments on ferrous and exotic alloy workpieces.

Key Features

  • Solid carbide substrate with AlTiN and TiN Sumotec PVD coating for extended tool life in steel and superalloy milling
  • Double-sided insert with 4 cutting edges for improved cost-per-edge efficiency
  • Helical cutting edge style with negative rake and 0 degree relief angle reduces cutting forces on difficult materials
  • PNTR chip breaker geometry suited for steel, stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium (ISO P, M, S)
  • Maximum depth of cut of 0.394 inches with a cutting edge effective length of 0.394 inches
  • Screw-type insert holding method ensures rigid, repeatable seating in compatible cutter bodies

Compatibility

Designed for use with the ISCAR H490 ANK17 cutter series. ANSI code H490 ANKX 170616PNTR IC830; ISO code H490 ANKX 170616PNTR. Conforms to ANSI and ISO 13399 standards.

Installation Notes

This insert is installed and replaced by machinists or tooling technicians using a torx or hex key to secure the clamping screw per the cutter body manufacturer specification. The cutter body must be fully removed from the spindle or machine power must be locked out before handling inserts. Inspect the cutter pocket seating surface for chips or damage before seating a new insert. Do not exceed the cutter body rated speed or the insert maximum depth of cut of 0.394 inches.
