The ISCAR 5606943 is a solid carbide milling insert designed for use in the P290 MILLSHRED cutter series. It carries the ANSI designation P290 ACKT 1806PDR-FWE and the IC830 manufacturer grade. The insert features a parallelogram shape (ACKT style) with an 85-degree included angle, a positive rake geometry, and a segmented cutting edge style. The AlTiN plus TiN multilayer coating is applied via PVD using ISCAR Sumotec PVD technology, which supports high-speed cutting in demanding materials. With two cutting edges and a right-hand orientation, this insert is held in place by a screw-type clamping method. It measures 0.421 inches in inscribed circle diameter and 0.236 inches thick.
This insert is suited for milling steel, stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium, corresponding to ISO material codes P, M, and S. It is intended for use in industrial machining centers performing face milling, shoulder milling, or high-feed applications where chip control and edge toughness are critical. The FWE chip breaker geometry supports work in these difficult-to-cut materials. The insert size code is 1806, and it is compatible with P290-series cutter bodies. Typical users include CNC machinists and tooling specialists in production machining environments.
Designed for use with P290-series MILLSHRED cutter bodies. The ANSI code P290 ACKT 1806PDR-FWE IC830 and ISO code P290 ACKT 1806PDR-FWE define the exact insert geometry and grade for proper cutter compatibility. Verify cutter body pocket specifications before substituting grades or geometries.
This insert is installed and serviced by qualified CNC machinists or toolroom technicians. Before changing inserts, power down the machine and engage all lockout/tagout procedures per facility safety protocols. Use the correct torx or hex key specified by the cutter body manufacturer when tightening the clamping screw — overtightening can fracture carbide inserts. Inspect the cutter body pocket seating surface for wear or debris before seating the new insert.
