The ISCAR 5606807 is a round, double-sided milling insert from the HELIDO series, designed for high-performance face and shoulder milling in demanding metalworking applications. This solid carbide insert carries the ANSI designation H400 RNHU 1606-AX IC830 and is coated with AlTiN and TiN via a PVD Sumotec process, delivering elevated heat and wear resistance at the cutting edge. The insert measures 0.307 inches thick with an inscribed circle of 0.579 inches and provides four usable cutting edges per insert. A negative rake geometry combined with an 11-degree rake angle and continuous cutting edge style supports stable, repeatable performance across a range of ferrous and exotic materials.
This insert is suited for milling steel, stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium, covering ISO material groups P, M, and S. It is used in production-floor milling operations on CNC machining centers and mill-turn platforms, typically in medium-to-heavy material removal applications. The AX chip breaker geometry is optimized for controlled chip evacuation when cutting difficult-to-machine alloys. Maximum depth of cut is 0.315 inches (12.00 mm), making this insert appropriate for moderate-depth passes in roughing and semi-finishing cycles. Toolholders from the ISCAR H400-16 cutter series are the designated compatible cutter body platform. The insert is held in place by screw clamping.
Designed for use with ISCAR H400-16 series milling cutter bodies. Insert is screw-held and specified under ANSI code H400 RNHU 1606-AX IC830 and ISO 13399 standards.
Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician. Always power down and lock out the spindle before seating or replacing inserts. Use the appropriate torx or hex key specified by the cutter body manufacturer when tightening the clamping screw — do not overtighten. Inspect the insert pocket and seating surfaces for chips or debris before placing the insert to ensure proper seating and runout.
