Product Description

The ISCAR 5606739 is a solid carbide milling insert in the LNHT 0604ETR geometry, designed for tangential plunge milling operations. It carries the IC808 manufacturer grade with a multilayer PVD coating of TiAlN, AlTiN, and TiN applied under the Sumotec PVD process. The insert features a butterfly shape, a negative rake angle, a 90-degree included angle, and four cutting edges for extended tool life between index cycles. The inscribed circle measures 0.1600 inches, thickness is 0.2670 inches, and the cutting edge effective length is 0.2559 inches. It is installed using a screw-holding method and is double-sided for maximum edge utilization.

This insert is suited for milling applications across a broad range of workpiece materials including steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials, corresponding to ISO material codes P, M, K, S, and H. It is intended for use in the TANGPLUNGE series cutter bodies, specifically compatible with HTP LN06 series cutter bodies. Typical applications include face milling, tangential plunge roughing, and semifinishing cuts in production machining environments. The ETR chip breaker geometry supports controlled chip formation across these material groups. The insert is right-hand oriented and accepts a maximum depth of cut of 0.3940 inches (4.50 mm).

Key Features

  • IC808 grade with multilayer PVD coating: TiAlN, AlTiN, and TiN for thermal and wear resistance
  • Four cutting edges on a double-sided insert for increased indexable life
  • Butterfly insert shape with negative rake and 0.0315-inch corner radius for stable interrupted and continuous cuts
  • ETR chip breaker geometry optimized for steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials
  • Screw-held mounting for secure seating under tangential cutting forces
  • Conforms to ANSI and ISO 13399 standards for dimensional consistency

Compatibility

Designed for use with ISCAR HTP LN06 series cutter bodies as part of the TANGPLUNGE cutter system. ANSI code: HTP LNHT 0604 ETR IC808. ISO code: HTP LNHT 0604 ETR.

Installation Notes

Installation is performed by qualified machinists or tooling technicians using the designated screw-holding method; ensure the cutter body pocket and seating surfaces are clean and free of chips before seating the insert. Disengage machine power and lock out the spindle before indexing or replacing inserts. Verify torque on the clamping screw per the cutter body manufacturer documentation. Do not exceed the rated maximum depth of cut for the cutter body and insert combination.
