The ISCAR 5606738 is a solid carbide milling insert carrying ANSI designation HTP LNHT 0604 ETR IC830, designed for tangential plunge milling operations in demanding cutting applications. The insert features an IC830 grade substrate with a PVD-applied AlTiN and TiN Sumotec coating, combining wear resistance with thermal stability. The butterfly-shaped, double-sided insert provides 4 cutting edges per insert, reducing tooling cost per edge. With a negative rake geometry and chamfered, honed cutting edge style, it delivers controlled chip formation and edge integrity when machining steel, stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium. Licensed machinists and CNC tooling specialists are the primary users of this insert.
This insert is engineered for use in the ISCAR TANGPLUNGE cutter series, specifically compatible with HTP LN06 cutter bodies. It is suited for tangential plunge milling applications in aerospace, general machining, and energy sector environments where superalloys and stainless grades are common workpiece materials. The right-hand configuration, 0.0315 inch corner radius, and a maximum depth of cut of 0.3940 inches make it well-matched for aggressive plunge and ramping strategies. It is sold individually but requires a minimum order quantity of 10 units.
Designed for use with ISCAR TANGPLUNGE series cutter bodies, specifically HTP LN06 cutter bodies. Insert size code is 0604. Conforms to ANSI and ISO 13399 standards with ANSI code HTP LNHT 0604 ETR IC830 and ISO code HTP LNHT 0604 ETR.
Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician. The machine spindle must be fully stopped and locked out before inserting or removing cutting inserts. Use the appropriate Torx or hex key as specified by the cutter body manufacturer to seat the clamping screw to the required torque per the toolholder documentation. Inspect the insert pocket and seating surface for chips or damage before installing a new insert to ensure accurate runout.
