The ISCAR 5606673 is a solid carbide milling insert carrying the ANSI designation S845 SNMU 1305ANR-MM IC5400, designed for use in shoulder and face milling applications on steel and stainless steel workpieces. It features a square insert shape with a neutral hand orientation, a negative rake angle of 24 degrees, and a helical cutting edge style that distributes cutting forces evenly across the edge. The IC5400 grade uses a multi-layer MTCVD coating of TiCN, Al2O3, and TiN, which provides wear resistance and thermal stability during continuous and interrupted cuts. With 8 usable cutting edges on a double-sided body, this insert delivers consistent performance across a full tool life cycle.
This insert is intended for use in CNC milling operations on steel and stainless steel, corresponding to ISO material codes P and M. It is compatible with ISCAR HELIDO series cutter bodies, specifically the SOE45 and SOF45 cutter series. The MM chip breaker geometry is suited for medium machining conditions. Typical installation is performed by machining professionals and tooling setup technicians in precision manufacturing, job shop, and production environments. The insert mounts via screw-lock clamping in the pocket of the compatible cutter body.
Compatible with ISCAR HELIDO series cutter bodies SOE45 and SOF45. Conforms to ANSI code S845 SNMU 1305ANR-MM IC5400 and ISO 13399 standards.
Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician. Before indexing or replacing inserts, the spindle must be fully stopped and the machine locked out per applicable shop safety procedures. Seat the insert fully into the pocket and tighten the clamping screw using the appropriate Torx or hex key to the cutter body manufacturer's specified procedure. Inspect the pocket seating surface for chips or debris before installing a new insert to prevent improper seating and premature edge failure.
