The ISCAR 5606593 is a single-sided, octagon-shaped solid carbide milling insert carrying ANSI designation OEMT 060405AER-76 in manufacturer grade IC808. It belongs to the HELIOCTO series and is designed for face and shoulder milling operations on a wide range of workpiece materials. The insert features a TiAlN/AlTiN/TiN multilayer PVD Sumotec coating applied over a submicron carbide substrate, delivering both wear resistance and thermal stability. With 8 cutting edges, a positive rake geometry, and a T-Land cutting edge style, it is engineered to deliver consistent chip control and extended tool life in demanding production environments. Licensed machinists and CNC tooling specialists are the primary installers of this insert.
This insert is suited for milling steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials in both roughing and semi-finishing applications. It is compatible with the HOF-R06 and HOE-R06 HELIOCTO cutter bodies, making it appropriate for production shops running multi-edge face mills where insert indexing efficiency and per-edge cost are priorities. The neutral hand orientation and 76 chip breaker designation make it adaptable across a range of axial and radial depth-of-cut setups within its rated maximum depth of cut of 0.098 inches (2.49 mm). Typical use cases include high-volume steel component machining and interrupted cuts in cast iron.
Designed for use in ISCAR HELIOCTO cutter bodies HOF-R06 and HOE-R06. ANSI code OEMT 060405AER-76 IC808; ISO code OEMT 060405AER-76. Conforms to ANSI and ISO 13399 standards.
Insert installation and indexing should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician with the spindle fully stopped and the machine locked out per facility lockout/tagout procedures. Use the appropriate Torx or hex key to seat the screw-held insert flush against the cutter pocket; do not overtighten, as this can fracture the carbide body. Inspect the cutter pocket seating surfaces for chips or debris before indexing to a fresh edge. Verify depth-of-cut and feed rate parameters against the HELIOCTO cutter body specifications before resuming operation.
