The ISCAR 5606585 is a solid carbide milling insert carrying the manufacturer designation SPMT 100408TR-HQ-M in grade IC808. It is a square-shaped, single-sided insert with a positive rake angle of 23 degrees and four cutting edges, designed for indexable milling operations. The IC808 grade uses a submicron carbide substrate with a Sumotec PVD multilayer coating of TiAlN, AlTiN, and TiN, giving the insert strong wear resistance and thermal stability at the cutting edge. At 0.1670 inches thick with an inscribed circle of 0.4020 inches and a corner radius of 0.0315 inches, this insert fits the HELIQUAD cutter series and is held in place by screw clamping. Licensed machinists and CNC tooling technicians install these inserts on production and job-shop milling machines.
The SPMT 100408TR-HQ-M IC808 is suited for face milling, shoulder milling, and helical interpolation applications on a range of workpiece materials including steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys and titanium, and hard materials. The HQ chip breaker geometry is engineered to control chip evacuation across this broad material range. Maximum depth of cut reaches 0.3150 inches, and the cutting edge effective length is 0.3701 inches, making it appropriate for both roughing and semi-finishing passes in production environments. It carries ANSI and ISO 13399 compliance for tool identification and data interchange.
Compatible with ISCAR HELIQUAD cutter series bodies including FSB, SSB, SPK, F90SP, and E90SP platforms. Insert is right-hand orientation and uses screw-type insert holding. Confirm pocket dimensions and screw size against the specific cutter body before ordering.
Installation is performed by qualified CNC machinists or tooling technicians. Always disengage the machine spindle and follow lockout/tagout procedures before indexing or replacing inserts. Use the correct ISCAR torx or hex key for the clamping screw and do not overtighten, as this can fracture the insert body or damage the pocket seating surface. Inspect the pocket seat and clamping screw threads for chips or wear each time inserts are indexed.
