The ISCAR 5606510 is a solid carbide milling insert designed for high-performance metal cutting in demanding machining applications. Carrying the ANSI designation FTP LNHT 1006 ETR IC830, this butterfly-shaped LNHT insert belongs to the HELITANG series and is held in place by a screw-style clamping method. It features an AlTiN and TiN dual coating applied via PVD process under the Sumotec PVD classification, which delivers hardness and thermal resistance at the cutting edge. The insert has a negative rake geometry with a T-Land cutting edge style, a 90-degree included angle, and four usable cutting edges. Thickness measures 0.386 inches and inscribed circle diameter is 0.256 inches.
This insert is intended for use in milling operations on steel, stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium workpieces, corresponding to ISO material codes P, M, and S. It is suited for both roughing and finishing passes where controlled chip formation is required. The ETR chip breaker geometry supports stable cutting action across these material groups. Compatible cutter series is the FTP-LN10 tool body platform. This is a double-sided insert, and the right-hand cutting orientation should be confirmed against the cutter body configuration before installation. Typical applications include face milling, shoulder milling, and profile milling on CNC machining centers in production and job-shop environments.
Designed for use with the FTP-LN10 cutter series. ANSI code: FTP LNHT 1006 ETR IC830. ISO code: FTP LNHT 1006 ETR. Conforms to ANSI and ISO 13399 standards.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or tooling technicians on CNC or manual milling equipment. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before changing inserts. Use the correct torx or hex key to seat the clamping screw to the tool body manufacturer's specified torque range as listed in the cutter body documentation — do not over-torque. Inspect the insert seat and clamping pocket for chips or debris before seating a new insert to maintain proper runout and cutting geometry.
