The ISCAR 5606395 is a solid carbide indexable milling insert carrying the ANSI designation HM90 APKT 1003PDR IC810. It is a single-sided, right-hand, parallelogram-shaped insert designed for use in shoulder and face milling cutters within the HM90 and HELI2000 series tooling platforms. The insert features a PVD-applied AlTiCrN plus TiN Sumotec coating, a positive rake geometry of 23 degrees, and a honed cutting edge style. With two cutting edges per insert and a PDR chip breaker, it is engineered for productive metal removal in steel and cast iron applications. Licensed machinists, tooling specialists, and CNC setup technicians are the primary installers and users of this insert.
This insert is suited for milling operations on steel and cast iron workpieces in both production and job-shop environments. The positive rake angle reduces cutting forces, which is beneficial when working with lower-rigidity setups or lighter-duty spindles. The PDR chip breaker promotes controlled chip formation during medium to light roughing and semi-finishing passes. The insert is compatible with HM90-10 series cutter bodies and is catalogued under ANSI code HM90 APKT 1003PDR IC810 and ISO code HM90 APKT 1003PDR per ISO 13399 and ANSI standards.
Designed for use in HM90-10 series cutter bodies. Compatible cutter series designation is HM90-10. Insert conforms to ANSI and ISO 13399 standards under the designations HM90 APKT 1003PDR IC810 and HM90 APKT 1003PDR respectively.
Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician. Before indexing or replacing inserts, ensure the spindle is fully stopped and machine power is locked out per facility lockout/tagout procedures. Use the appropriate torx or hex key specified for the cutter body to achieve proper screw torque when seating the insert. Inspect the pocket seat and clamping screw for wear or debris before installing a new insert to ensure accurate seating and runout control.
