The ISCAR 5606394 is a solid carbide indexable milling insert in the HM90 APKT 1003PDR IC330 configuration, designed for use in high-efficiency face and shoulder milling operations. This single-sided, right-hand insert features a parallelogram shape with an 85-degree included angle, two cutting edges, and a positive 23-degree rake angle for reduced cutting forces. The IC330 grade uses a PVD-applied TiCN and TiN coating for wear resistance and edge integrity. With a maximum depth of cut of 0.386 inches and an effective cutting edge length of 0.404 inches, it is suited for demanding material removal in steel, stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium. Licensed machinists and CNC operators install this insert in compatible HM90-series toolholders.
This insert is optimized for milling steel, stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium in both roughing and semi-finishing applications. The PDR chip breaker geometry promotes reliable chip control across a range of feed rates and cutting conditions. The positive rake design reduces power consumption and minimizes heat generation at the cutting zone, making it appropriate for difficult-to-machine materials including ISO M and S classifications. It fits into HM90-10 series cutter bodies and is held in place by a clamping screw. Typical applications include face milling, shoulder milling, and ramp milling in production and job-shop environments.
Designed for use in HM90-10 series cutter bodies from the HELI2000 platform. Cutter series compatibility code: HM90-10. Insert is screw-held and right-hand orientation.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before seating or indexing any insert. Use the correct torx or hex key torque driver specified by the toolholder manufacturer when tightening the clamping screw — do not over-torque. Inspect the insert pocket seat and clamping screw threads for debris or damage before installing a new insert.
