The ISCAR 5606332 is a solid carbide milling insert carrying the ANSI/ISO designation ONMU 050505-TN-MM in grade IC830. It belongs to ISCAR's HELIDO series and features an octagon shape with a negative rake angle and a T-Land cutting edge style. The insert is double-sided, delivering 16 usable cutting edges per insert. The AlTiN plus TiN Sumotec PVD coating is applied to improve wear resistance and thermal stability during high-demand interrupted cuts. The inscribed circle measures 0.5118 inches, thickness is 0.2000 inches, and the corner radius is 0.0197 inches. Maximum depth of cut reaches 0.1380 inches. The insert is held in the cutter body by a screw clamp and is suited for machining steel, stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium.
This insert is intended for use in milling operations on ferrous and difficult-to-machine materials in both production shop and contract machining environments. The MM chip breaker geometry is optimized for steel and stainless steel applications where chip control is critical. The neutral hand designation makes it compatible with standard right-hand tool assemblies. Typical users include CNC machinists and tool crib technicians working on face milling, shoulder milling, and profile milling operations in industrial manufacturing settings.
Compatible with ISCAR HELIDO series cutter bodies including FF SOF, SOF45, and SOE45 cutter series. Designed for use with the ONMU 050505-TN-MM insert seat specification per ANSI and ISO 13399 standards.
Installation is performed by a qualified CNC machinist or toolroom technician. Before changing inserts, power down the machine spindle completely and follow lockout/tagout procedures per applicable shop safety standards. Use the manufacturer-specified torx or hex key to seat the clamping screw - do not overtighten, as this can fracture the carbide body. Inspect the insert pocket and seating surface for chips or debris before seating the new insert to ensure accurate and repeatable tool runout.
