The ISCAR 5606320 is a solid carbide milling insert carrying the ANSI designation T490 LNHT 080404PNR IC808. It belongs to ISCAR's HELITANG series and is designed for use in T490 LNK08 cutter bodies. The butterfly-shaped LNHT insert features a helical cutting edge style, a negative rake angle, and a 90-degree included angle. Four usable cutting edges are available on this double-sided insert. The IC808 grade substrate is submicron carbide with a multilayer PVD coating — TiAlN, AlTiN, and TiN — classified under ISCAR's Sumotec PVD system. This combination delivers thermal resistance and edge stability across demanding milling applications. Installation is performed by machining professionals in shop and field environments.
This insert is suited for milling steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials — covering ISO material groups P, M, K, S, and H. It is applied in face milling, shoulder milling, and high-feed profiling operations where consistent edge life across difficult workpiece materials is required. The PNR chip breaker geometry supports controlled chip evacuation in these applications. Right-hand cutting orientation is standard for this insert. This insert is installed and indexed by machinists or tooling technicians using the appropriate screw-clamp torque driver specified by the cutter body manufacturer. The machine spindle must be fully stopped and the machine locked out before indexing or replacing inserts. Inspect the cutter pocket seating surface for debris or damage before seating a new insert, as an unclean pocket will affect runout and edge life. Dispose of worn inserts per applicable shop and local regulations for carbide tooling waste.
