The ISCAR 5606093 is a solid carbide milling insert in the T490 LNMT 1607PN-R geometry, designed for high-feed face and shoulder milling operations. This double-sided, negative-rake insert features a butterfly (LNMT) shape with four cutting edges, extending tool life between changeovers. The IC830 grade substrate carries a multilayer PVD coating — TiAlN, AlTiN, and TiN — applied using Sumotec PVD technology for thermal resistance and edge wear protection. At 0.623 inches thick with a 0.276-inch inscribed circle and a 1/32-inch corner radius, the insert fits T490 LNK16 series milling bodies and is held in place by a screw-lock method. It is suited for CNC machining centers running moderate to aggressive cutting parameters.
This insert is intended for use in industrial CNC milling applications across a broad range of primary workpiece materials including steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials (ISO material codes P, M, K, S, H). The helical cutting edge style and R-type chip breaker geometry promote controlled chip evacuation in both roughing and semi-finishing passes. Maximum depth of cut reaches 0.630 inches (16.00 mm). The right-hand cutting orientation must be matched to the intended cutter body configuration. This insert is specified per ANSI and ISO 13399 standards.
Compatible with T490 LNK16 series milling cutter bodies. ANSI catalog reference T490 LNMT 1607PN-R IC808 applies. Insert size code 1607; right-hand cutting orientation required.
Installation is performed by qualified CNC machinists or tool-crib technicians. Power down and lock out the spindle before seating or removing inserts. Use the correct torque driver for the screw-lock fastener — refer to the cutter body manufacturer specifications for the applicable seating torque. Inspect the pocket seat for chips or debris before installing a new insert, as contaminated seats cause premature edge failure.
