The ISCAR 5606032 is a solid carbide milling insert carrying the ANSI designation H490 ANCX 090404PDR IC830. It belongs to the HELIDO series and is engineered for indexable milling applications in steel, stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium. The insert features an AlTiN and TiN dual coating applied via PVD, which supports thermal resistance and edge wear. It is a double-sided, parallelogram-shaped insert with four cutting edges, a negative rake geometry, and a helical cutting edge style. The PDR chip breaker and 0.40 mm corner radius contribute to controlled chip formation during moderate to aggressive face and shoulder milling passes. Installation is performed by machining professionals using screw-style insert holding.
This insert is suited for indexable milling operations on CNC machining centers and manual milling machines where the H490 ANK09 cutter series is employed. Primary workpiece materials include steel, stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium, covering ISO material groups P, M, and S. The right-hand configuration and negative rake make it appropriate for climb milling and conventional finishing and roughing passes where maximum depth of cut reaches 0.394 inches. Insert replacement and indexing should be performed by a qualified machinist with the machine spindle fully stopped and all energy sources locked out per OSHA lockout/tagout procedures. Use the manufacturer-specified torque wrench and screw to seat the insert correctly in the pocket. Inspect the pocket seat and clamping screw for wear or damage before installing a new insert. Mixing insert grades or geometries within a single cutter body is not recommended, as it can cause uneven cutting forces and premature tool failure.
