The ISCAR 5605899 is a solid carbide milling insert designed for high-performance metal removal in demanding machining applications. Manufactured to the T490 LNHT 080416PNR IC830 specification, this butterfly-style insert features a helical cutting edge geometry with a negative rake angle and a 90-degree included angle. The IC830 grade substrate is coated with AlTiN and TiN using a PVD Sumotec process, delivering thermal resistance and edge toughness. With four usable cutting edges and a double-sided configuration, this insert maximizes tool life per unit. It is sized with an inscribed circle of 0.167 inches and a thickness of 0.285 inches, fitting the T490 LNK08 cutter series. Installation is performed by licensed machinists and CNC tooling specialists.
This insert is engineered for milling steel, stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium — material application codes P, M, and S per ISO classification. The helical cutting edge style reduces cutting forces during shoulder milling and plunge operations. A maximum depth of cut of 0.315 inches and a cutting edge effective length of 0.338 inches make this insert well-suited for roughing and semi-finishing passes on ferrous and difficult-to-machine alloys. It is a direct replacement insert for T490-series HELITANG milling bodies used in production and job-shop CNC milling environments.
Designed for use with T490 LNK08 cutter series bodies. ANSI code T490 LNHT 080416PNR IC830; ISO code T490 LNHT 080416PNR. Compatible with T490 HELITANG series milling cutters requiring LNHT 08 style inserts.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before seating or replacing inserts. Use the manufacturer-specified torx or hex key to tighten the clamping screw to the cutter body; do not overtighten. Inspect the insert pocket and clamping surfaces for debris or wear before seating a new insert.
