The ISCAR 5605890 is a solid carbide milling insert in the T490 LNHT 080408PNR IC830 configuration, designed for use in HELITANG series face and shoulder milling cutters. This double-sided, negative-rake insert features a butterfly (LNHT) shape with four usable cutting edges and a helical cutting edge style, which distributes cutting forces progressively for smoother operation. The IC830 grade substrate carries a Sumotec PVD-applied AlTiN and TiN multilayer coating, delivering strong thermal and wear resistance. With a maximum depth of cut of 0.315 inches and a corner radius of 0.0315 inches (1/32 inch), this insert suits general-purpose and high-performance milling on steel, stainless steel, and superalloy workpieces. Installation is by screw-clamping into compatible T490 toolholders.
This insert is suited for milling operations on steel, stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium in both production and job-shop environments. The PNR chip breaker geometry is optimized for these material groups, supporting stable chip evacuation across a range of cutting parameters. The 90-degree included angle makes this insert appropriate for shoulder milling applications where perpendicular wall accuracy is required. Compatible cutter series is T490 LNK08. Machinists, CNC operators, and tooling specialists working on mills and machining centers are the primary installers of this insert.
Designed for use with T490 LNK08 cutter series toolholders. ANSI code T490 LNHT 080408PNR IC830 and ISO code T490 LNHT 080408PNR. Conforms to ANSI and ISO 13399 standards.
This insert is installed and replaced by machinists or tooling technicians on CNC milling machines and machining centers. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the tool is secured in a vise or tool block before changing inserts. Use the manufacturer-specified torx or hex key to seat the clamping screw; do not over-torque. Inspect the insert pocket for chips or damage before seating a new insert to ensure full contact and accurate positioning.
