The ISCAR 5605533 is an ONMU 080608ANN-HP IC928 grade solid carbide milling insert designed for high-performance face and shoulder milling operations. This double-sided, octagonal insert features a TiAlN PVD coating applied over a solid carbide substrate, delivering wear resistance and thermal stability when cutting steel, stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium. The HP chip breaker geometry and T-Land cutting edge style are engineered for controlled chip formation under demanding cutting conditions. With 16 available cutting edges per insert, it offers extended tool life per unit cost, making it a practical choice for production environments. The insert is held in place by screw clamping and carries a neutral hand designation for straightforward indexing.
This insert is suited for use in CNC milling applications across both roughing and finishing passes on ferrous and high-temperature alloy workpieces. Typical installations include face mills and shoulder mills operating on steel and stainless steel components in metalworking shops and manufacturing facilities. The negative rake and T-Land edge preparation help manage cutting forces on harder materials, including superalloys and titanium-based workpieces. Indexable milling inserts of this type are installed and replaced by qualified machinists or toolroom technicians. Ensure the milling cutter body is secured and the spindle is fully locked out or powered down before indexing or replacing inserts. Use the correct torx or hex key to the cutter body manufacturer's specified seating procedure when tightening the clamping screw, and inspect the insert pocket for debris or wear before seating a new insert. Verify insert orientation and hand designation match the cutter body requirements prior to resuming operation.
