The ISCAR 5605448 is a solid carbide milling insert carrying the ANSI designation H490 ANKX 170608PNTR IC328. It belongs to the HELIDO series and is designed for use in shoulder and face milling operations where consistent edge performance and long tool life are priorities. The insert features a parallelogram shape with a helical cutting edge style, a negative rake angle, and a TiCN coating applied via PVD process. With four usable cutting edges on a double-sided body and a maximum depth of cut of 0.63 inches, this insert delivers reliable metal removal rates across demanding applications. Grade IC328 is formulated for work on steel, stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium.
This insert is suited for milling steel, stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium in both roughing and semi-finishing passes. It is compatible with H490 ANK17 cutter bodies and is held in place by a screw-clamping method. The PNTR chip breaker geometry helps control chip flow in difficult-to-cut materials. Typical install scenarios include production machining on CNC mills, horizontal machining centers, and multi-axis platforms where consistent insert indexing and repeatable performance are required. The right-hand configuration and 85-degree included angle support accurate shoulder milling.
Designed for use with H490 ANK17 cutter body series. Insert size code 170608 corresponds to this platform. Conforms to ANSI and ISO 13399 standards as documented by the manufacturer catalog number H490 ANKX 170608PNTR IC328.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or tooling technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before indexing or replacing inserts. Use the correct torx or hex key specified by the cutter body manufacturer when seating the clamping screw — do not overtighten. Inspect the pocket seating surface for chips or debris before installing a new insert to ensure proper seating and accurate cutting geometry.
