The ISCAR 5605386 is a solid carbide milling insert carrying the ANSI designation S845 SNMU 1305ANR-MM IC830. Part of the HELIDO series, this double-sided, square-shaped insert features a negative rake angle and a helical cutting edge style that reduces cutting forces and improves surface finish in face and shoulder milling applications. The IC830 grade uses a PVD-applied AlTiN plus TiN Sumotec coating engineered for extended tool life when cutting steel, stainless steel, and superalloys including titanium. Eight usable cutting edges per insert lower cost per edge and reduce tooling changeover frequency in production environments. Each insert is secured by screw clamping and is suitable for neutral-hand tool holders.
This insert is designed for use in ISCAR HELIDO cutter bodies compatible with the SOE45 and SOF45 series. It is well suited for milling operations on steel, stainless steel, and superalloys or titanium workpieces in both roughing and finishing contexts. The 90-degree included angle and MM chip breaker geometry make it a practical choice for shoulder milling and slot milling where chip control at moderate-to-aggressive feed rates is required. Licensed machinists and CNC machine operators in job shops and production facilities will find this insert appropriate for a wide range of ferrous and exotic-alloy applications.
Designed for use with ISCAR HELIDO cutter bodies in the SOE45 and SOF45 series that accept the SNMU 1305 insert size. Verify cutter pocket specifications against the ANSI code S845 SNMU 1305ANR-MM IC830 before installation.
Installation is performed by licensed machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Fully power down and lock out the machine spindle before changing inserts. Use the correct ISCAR torx or hex key for the clamping screw to avoid stripping the insert pocket threads. Inspect the cutter pocket seating surfaces for wear or debris before seating the new insert, and confirm the cutting edge is oriented correctly for the programmed tool path direction.
