The ISCAR 5605385 is a solid carbide milling insert carrying the ANSI designation S845 SNMU 1305ANTR IC810. It is a double-sided, square-shaped negative-rake insert with a helical cutting edge and eight usable cutting edges per insert. The insert is coated with an AlTiCrN and TiN multilayer finish applied via PVD coating process, classified under the Sumotec PVD system. It measures 0.5118 inches across the inscribed circle and 0.2440 inches in thickness, with a corner radius of 0.0315 inches (1/32 inch). This insert is designed for face milling and shoulder milling operations in metalworking environments and is installed by machinists and CNC tooling technicians.
This insert is primarily intended for machining steel and cast iron workpieces, corresponding to ISO material codes P and K. It belongs to the HELIDO series and is suited for both roughing and finishing passes where a helical cutting action reduces radial cutting forces. The maximum depth of cut is 0.2360 inches (6.00 mm), and the effective cutting edge length is 0.2758 inches. It is held in the cutter body by a screw-type insert holding method. Typical applications include production milling of structural steel components and gray or ductile cast iron parts in job shop or production machining environments.
Compatible with ISCAR cutter series SOE45 and SOF45 as specified by the manufacturer. This insert uses a screw-type holding method and must be seated in a cutter body designed for the S845 SNMU 1305 insert pocket.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC setup technicians. Before replacing inserts, power down and lock out the machine spindle per facility LOTO procedures. Use the correct torx or hex key specified by the cutter body manufacturer to drive the clamping screw — do not overtighten, as this can fracture the insert or damage the pocket seat. Inspect the cutter body pocket for chips, burrs, or wear before seating the new insert.
