The ISCAR 5605332 is a solid carbide milling insert in the LNHT 1606 ETR configuration, manufactured to ANSI and ISO 13399 standards. It carries the IC928 grade designation and features a physical vapor deposition (PVD) TiAlN coating applied over a solid carbide substrate. The insert uses a butterfly (LNHT) shape with a negative rake angle, a 90-degree included angle, and four usable cutting edges. With a maximum depth of cut of 0.6496 inches and a chamfered and honed cutting edge style, it is engineered for productive milling in difficult-to-machine materials. Licensed machinists and CNC tool setters are the primary installers of this insert.
This insert is designed for milling applications in steel, stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium workpieces, corresponding to ISO material groups P, M, and S. It is part of the ISCAR TANGPLUNGE series and seats into compatible HTP LN16 cutter bodies using a screw-clamping holding method. Typical applications include plunge milling and tangential milling operations on CNC machining centers in both job-shop and production environments. The ETR chip breaker geometry is selected for these demanding material groups. This is a double-sided, neutral-hand insert, allowing use in either cutting direction without repositioning the cutter body.
Compatible with ISCAR HTP LN16 series cutter bodies. Conforms to ANSI and ISO 13399 insert standards with the designation HTP LNHT 1606 ETR IC928.
Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before changing inserts. Use the appropriate Torx or hex key as specified by the cutter body manufacturer to seat the clamping screw — do not overtighten, as this can fracture the carbide insert body. Inspect the insert pocket seating surface for chips or debris before installing a new insert.
