The ISCAR 5605319 is a solid carbide ball nose milling insert from the BALLPLUS series, designed for high-performance milling operations in demanding materials. Carrying the IC328 manufacturer grade with a PVD-applied TiCN coating, it delivers wear resistance and thermal stability at the cutting zone. The insert measures 0.50 inches inscribed circle, 0.102 inches thick, and 0.382 inches in cutting edge effective length. It features a positive rake geometry, a honed cutting edge style, and a QP chip breaker for controlled chip evacuation. Two cutting edges and a 0.25-inch corner radius make it suited for finishing and semi-finishing passes on ball nose toolpaths. Screw-mounted and right-hand orientation, it fits the HCM cutter series.
This insert is intended for milling steel, stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium, covering ISO material codes P, M, and S. It is a single-sided insert with a maximum depth of cut of 0.382 inches and a full 360-degree included angle consistent with ball nose geometry. Typical applications include contour milling, die and mold work, and finishing of complex profiles where controlled corner radius engagement is critical. It is sized for use in HCM-series milling cutters and is sold individually with a minimum order quantity of 10 units.
Designed for use in ISCAR HCM-series ball nose milling cutter bodies. ANSI code HCR D.50-QP IC328 and ISO code HCR D.50-QP define the insert geometry for compatible toolholder selection. Conforms to ANSI and ISO 13399 standards.
Installation is performed by a machinist or toolroom technician using the appropriate Torx or hex key for the mounting screw specified by the cutter body manufacturer. Ensure the cutter body pocket and seating surfaces are clean and free of chips before indexing or replacing the insert. Do not exceed the cutter body's rated speed and feed parameters for the insert size. Handle solid carbide inserts with care to avoid edge chipping during installation.
