The ISCAR 5605284 is a round RCMT-style solid carbide milling insert carrying the IC908 manufacturer grade and a PVD-applied TiAlN coating. Designed for the MILLSHRED series, this single-sided insert features a segmented cutting edge style with a positive rake geometry and a 7-degree relief angle. The inscribed circle measures 0.4724 inches, thickness is 0.1570 inches, and the maximum depth of cut reaches 0.2362 inches. With 4 cutting edges and a neutral hand designation, the insert is suited for high-productivity face and shoulder milling across a broad range of workpiece materials. Licensed HVAC and metalworking professionals install these inserts in compatible milling cutter bodies using a screw-holding method.
This insert is rated for use on steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys and titanium, and hard materials, covering ISO material codes P, M, K, S, and H. The IC908 submicron carbide grade with TiAlN PVD coating delivers thermal and wear resistance needed in interrupted cuts and demanding milling passes. It fits cutter series FRW and ERW, making it applicable across a range of face milling and shoulder milling operations in both production shop and job-shop environments. The ANSI code is RCMT 1206-FW-F20 IC908 and the ISO code is RCMT 1206-FW-F20. The FW chip breaker geometry supports controlled chip formation across the listed material groups.
Designed for use with ISCAR FRW and ERW milling cutter series. ANSI code: RCMT 1206-FW-F20 IC908. ISO code: RCMT 1206-FW-F20. Insert size code 1206; inscribed circle range 0.4000 to 0.5000 inches.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or tooling technicians. Power down and de-energize the machine spindle completely before changing inserts. Secure the insert using the specified torque for the cutter body screw seat per the cutter manufacturer guidelines. Inspect the screw and seat for damage or debris before seating the new insert to ensure proper clamping and runout.
