The ISCAR 5605281 is a round, single-sided solid carbide milling insert in the MILLSHRED series, designed for high-performance milling applications across a broad range of workpiece materials. Carrying ISCAR grade IC908, this insert features a TiAlN coating applied via PVD process over a submicron carbide substrate, delivering strong wear resistance and thermal stability under demanding cut conditions. The RCCT 1206MO geometry provides a positive rake angle with a T-Land cutting edge style and a 7-degree relief angle, producing 8 usable cutting edges per insert. At 0.4724 inches inscribed circle diameter and 0.1570 inches thick, it seats securely in compatible screw-clamped toolholders. Licensed machinists and CNC milling professionals are the primary installers.
This insert is suited for milling steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials, corresponding to ISO material groups P, M, K, S, and H. The MO chip breaker geometry supports stable chip formation across these varied materials. It is intended for use in production milling environments where consistent edge life and predictable performance across material transitions are required. The insert size code is 1206, and the maximum depth of cut reaches 0.2362 inches, making it appropriate for moderate to full-depth passes in face, shoulder, and contour milling operations.
Designed for use in ISCAR FRW and ERW cutter series toolholders that accept RCCT 1206MO style inserts with screw clamping. Conforms to ANSI and ISO 13399 standards. Verify pocket geometry and screw size against the cutter body specification before installation.
Insert replacement should be performed by a qualified machinist with the machine spindle fully stopped and all energy sources locked out per applicable safety procedures. Use the correct torque wrench and insert screw specified by the cutter body manufacturer — do not over-torque the clamping screw, as this can fracture the insert or damage the pocket seat. Inspect the pocket seat and clamping screw for wear or debris before seating a new insert. Rotate to a fresh cutting edge before replacing the insert entirely to maximize service life.
