The ISCAR 5605278 is a solid carbide milling insert designed for use in high-feed and high-productivity face milling applications. Carrying the ANSI designation HM90 APKT 100316PDR IC328, this insert features a parallelogram shape with an 85-degree included angle, a positive rake geometry, and a TiCN coating applied via PVD process. The IC328 grade targets steel, stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium, covering material groups P, M, and S. With a right-hand cutting orientation and two available cutting edges, the insert delivers a maximum depth of cut of 0.362 inches and a cutting edge effective length of 0.405 inches. Insert holding is by screw, and the cutting edge is honed for controlled engagement.
This insert is part of the HELI2000 series and is compatible with HM90-10 cutter bodies. It is sized at insert size code 100316, with an inscribed circle of 0.266 inches and a thickness of 0.139 inches. Typical applications include roughing and semi-finishing of carbon steel, stainless steel, and titanium alloys in production machining environments. Installation is performed by machinists and tooling technicians in CNC milling operations where consistent chip control and edge life are required. The PDR chip breaker geometry supports positive cutting action and efficient chip evacuation across the supported workpiece material range.

Installation and insert changes are performed by qualified machinists or tooling technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before seating or removing inserts. Use the correct torx or hex key to tighten the clamping screw to the cutter body manufacturer's specified torque — do not over-tighten, as this can crack the insert or damage the pocket. Inspect the pocket seating surface and screw threads for wear or debris before installing a new insert.
