The ISCAR 5605172 is a solid carbide milling insert designed for high-performance metal removal in face and shoulder milling operations. Manufactured to ANSI and ISO 13399 standards, this insert carries the IC328 grade designation and features a TiCN coating applied via PVD process. The ADKT 1505 PDR-HM geometry provides a positive rake angle and a honed cutting edge style, delivering clean chip formation and reduced cutting forces. With a maximum depth of cut of 0.472 inches and two cutting edges per insert, it suits demanding production milling environments. Licensed HVAC and industrial maintenance technicians, machinists, and tooling specialists working in job shop or OEM production settings will recognize this insert as part of the ISCAR HELIMILL series.
This insert is intended for milling steel, stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium workpieces, corresponding to ISO material groups P, M, and S. It is compatible with ISCAR HM90-15 series milling cutters and fits toolholders designed for the ADKT 1505 insert style. The right-hand cutting orientation and screw-in holding method make it a standard fit for indexable shoulder and face mills used in both roughing and semi-finishing passes on the listed workpiece materials.
Designed for use with ISCAR HELIMILL HM90-15 series milling cutters that accept ADKT 1505 style inserts. ANSI code reference: ADKT 1505PDR HM90 IC328. ISO code reference: ADKT 1505 PDR-HM.
Insert indexing and replacement should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician with the spindle fully stopped and the machine locked out per applicable shop safety procedures. Use the manufacturer-specified torx or hex key to tighten the clamping screw to the toolholder seat; do not exceed the torque value specified in the cutter body documentation. Inspect the insert pocket and seating surfaces for chips or debris before seating a new insert to ensure accurate positioning and full contact.
