The ISCAR 5604989 is a solid carbide helical flute thread mill designed for cutting internal threads in a CNC machining environment. It produces UNC and UNF thread forms in the number 10 and number 8 thread size range at 32 teeth per inch. The cutting diameter is 0.126 inches with a length of cut of 0.49 inches and an overall length of 2.5 inches. The 1/4-inch shank diameter suits standard ER and end mill collet toolholders. A TiAlN coating improves wear resistance and tool life in ferrous and hardened workpiece materials. Three right-hand helical flutes provide chip evacuation during the thread milling cycle.
This thread mill is suited to CNC machining centers performing internal thread milling operations on production or prototype parts. It handles both UNC and UNF thread standards in a single tool, making it practical for shops threading number 8 and number 10 hole patterns in steel, stainless, cast iron, and similar materials. Coolant-through is not available on this tool, so adequate flood or mist coolant delivery at the spindle is recommended for best tool life. It is sold as a single unit and is a direct replacement or web-sourced consumable for shops stocking ISCAR solid carbide thread mills.
Designed as an OEM-style solid carbide thread mill for CNC machining centers equipped with standard 1/4-inch collet or end mill toolholding systems capable of thread milling cycles.
Thread mills of this type are installed by qualified CNC machinists or tooling setup personnel. Confirm spindle runout is within acceptable limits before seating the tool in the collet to avoid premature tool failure on small-diameter carbide tooling. Program the thread milling cycle per the machine control manufacturer guidelines for helical interpolation. Never exceed the recommended depth of cut or axial engagement for the thread size being produced.
