The ISCAR 5604911 is a solid carbide milling insert carrying the ANSI designation HM90 APCR 220608R-P IC28. It is a single-sided, right-hand parallelogram insert ground to an 85-degree included angle with a positive rake geometry and an 11-degree relief angle. The IC28 grade is an uncoated (bright) solid carbide formulated for non-ferrous metal cutting applications. With a honed cutting edge style and two cutting edges per insert, it delivers clean, consistent performance in high-productivity aluminum and non-ferrous milling operations. The insert is held in the cutter body by a screw clamp and is compatible with the HM90-22 cutter series.
This insert is designed for use in the HELIALU series HM90-22 milling system. Its primary application is milling non-ferrous metals, particularly aluminum alloys, in both roughing and finishing passes where a sharp, positive geometry is required. The maximum depth of cut reaches 0.866 inches (20 mm), and the effective cutting edge length is 0.870 inches, making it well suited for high-volume material removal in production environments. It is installed by machinists and CNC setup technicians in job shop, aerospace, and general metalworking operations.
Compatible with the HM90-22 cutter series. ANSI code HM90 APCR 220608R-P IC28. Conforms to ANSI and ISO 13399 standards. Designed as a direct-fit insert for HELIALU series HM90 milling bodies accepting the 220608 insert size.
Installation is performed by machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Always power down and lock out the machine spindle before seating or removing inserts. Use the correct torx or hex key specified by the cutter body manufacturer to achieve proper screw torque — do not overtighten, as this can crack the carbide insert. Inspect the insert pocket and seating surfaces for chips or debris before installing a new insert to ensure full, flat contact.
