The ISCAR 5604729 is a solid carbide milling insert carrying the ANSI designation T490 LNMX 0804PN-R IC928, designed for high-performance indexable milling in the HELITANG T490 cutter series. The insert features a butterfly (LNMX) shape with a helical cutting edge style and a TiAlN coating applied via PVD process. Grade IC928 is engineered for wear resistance and thermal stability under demanding cutting conditions. With four usable cutting edges on a double-sided geometry, this insert maximizes tool life per piece. The maximum depth of cut reaches 0.3150 inches, and the inscribed circle measures 0.1670 inches. A negative rake angle and 90-degree included angle suit shoulder and face milling operations on a range of metallic workpiece materials.
This insert is intended for use in professional CNC milling applications across metalworking shops, job shops, and production machining environments. Primary workpiece materials include steel (P), stainless steel (M), and superalloys and titanium (S), covering a broad range of ISO material groups. The chip breaker designation R and neutral hand geometry make it adaptable to a variety of cut directions and programming approaches. Installation is performed by qualified CNC machinists or tooling technicians. Use the correct torx or hex key specified by the cutter body manufacturer to achieve proper screw-clamp torque without over-tightening. Inspect the insert pocket seat and clamping screw for chips or damage before seating a new insert.
