Product Description

The ISCAR 5604575 is a solid carbide milling insert carrying ANSI designation LNET 082604-TN-N in grade IC928. It belongs to the TANGSLOT series and is designed for slot milling and high-feed face milling applications. The insert features a butterfly (LNET) shape with a 90-degree included angle, four cutting edges, and a T-Land cutting edge style with a TN chip breaker. A PVD-applied TiAlN coating provides thermal resistance and wear protection during interrupted and continuous cuts. The neutral hand orientation and negative rake geometry make this insert suitable for rigid setups where edge stability is critical. Licensed machinists and CNC tool crib technicians are the primary installers.

This insert is rated for primary workpiece materials including steel, stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium, making it well-suited for aerospace, energy, and general precision machining environments. The IC928 grade is an ISCAR PVD carbide grade engineered for wear resistance in these demanding material groups. It seats via screw-holding method and is single-sided. Compatible cutter bodies include the ETS-LN08 and FDN-LN08 series from ISCAR.

Key Features

  • IC928 PVD TiAlN-coated solid carbide grade for steel, stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium
  • Four cutting edges with T-Land style and TN chip breaker for controlled chip formation
  • Butterfly LNET insert shape with 90-degree included angle and negative rake
  • Neutral hand — fits left- and right-hand cutter body positions
  • Screw-clamped insert holding method for rigid, repeatable seating
  • Compliant with ANSI and ISO 13399 insert identification standards

Compatibility

Compatible with ISCAR TANGSLOT cutter bodies ETS-LN08 and FDN-LN08. Designed for use in CNC milling applications targeting steel (P), stainless steel (M), superalloys, and titanium (S) workpiece material groups per ISO classification.

Installation Notes

Insert installation and replacement should be performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician with the spindle fully stopped and machine in a locked-out, tagged-out state. Use the manufacturer-specified torx or hex key to tighten the clamping screw to the cutter body seat — consult the cutter body documentation for seating torque guidance. Inspect the pocket and seating surface for chips or debris before placing the insert. Do not mix insert grades or geometries within a single cutter body unless the cutter body manufacturer explicitly allows it.
