The ISCAR 5603924 is a helical flute internal thread mill designed for cutting 1/2-inch UN threads in metalworking and machining applications. Built from submicron-grade solid carbide and coated with TiAlN for heat and wear resistance, this tool delivers consistent thread quality in demanding production environments. It features 3 flutes and cuts at 13 teeth per inch (TPI) with a cutting diameter of 0.313 inches. The 5/16-inch shank provides rigid setup in standard tool holders. This thread mill is installed and operated by CNC machinists and toolroom professionals running milling centers equipped for thread milling cycles.
This tool is suited for internal thread milling in ferrous and non-ferrous metals where helical interpolation is preferred over tapping. Typical applications include producing 1/2-inch UN internal threads in through-holes or blind holes using a CNC machining center. The helical flute geometry assists with chip evacuation during the milling cycle. It is commonly used in job shops, production machining, and toolroom environments where thread quality and tool life are priorities. Coolant-through is not supported on this tool, so external coolant or air blast is used during operation.
Designed for use in CNC machining centers capable of helical interpolation thread milling cycles. Fits standard tool holders accepting a 5/16-inch shank. Intended for cutting 1/2-inch UN internal threads with a minimum nominal bore diameter of 0.375 inches.
Installation and setup should be performed by a qualified CNC machinist familiar with thread milling cycles and G-code programming. Ensure the tool is seated fully and securely in the collet or end mill holder before operation. Thread milling requires proper helical interpolation programming in the CNC controller — do not use this tool in a drill or tapping cycle. External coolant or air blast should be directed at the cutting zone, as this tool does not support coolant-through delivery.
