The ISCAR 5603769 is a solid carbide milling insert designed for tangential milling operations in demanding metal-cutting environments. Carrying the ANSI designation LNHT 1506PN-R HT IC928, this double-sided, right-hand insert features a butterfly (LNHT) shape with a negative rake geometry and a T-Land cutting edge style. The IC928 grade combines a TiAlN PVD coating with a tough carbide substrate, making it well suited for interrupted cuts and high-temperature cutting zones. With four usable cutting edges and a maximum depth of cut of 0.4720 inches (12.00 mm), the insert delivers consistent performance on steel, stainless steel, and superalloy workpieces. It is held in place by a screw-clamp method and conforms to both ANSI and ISO 13399 standards.
This insert is engineered for use in tangential milling applications on machining centers and CNC mills where tool life and edge security are priorities. It is compatible with the ISCAR TANGMILL cutter series, specifically the SSB-LN15 and F90LN cutter bodies. Primary material applications include steel (P), stainless steel (M), and superalloys and titanium (S), covering a broad range of aerospace, energy, and general machining workpiece materials. The HT chip breaker geometry helps manage chip flow in these tough-to-machine materials. Installation and indexing are typically performed by CNC machinists or tool-crib technicians following the toolholder manufacturer's torque specifications for the clamping screw.
Compatible with ISCAR TANGMILL cutter bodies SSB-LN15 and F90LN, as specified by the manufacturer. The insert size code is 1506 and the cutter series is TANGMILL.
Insert indexing and replacement should be performed by a qualified CNC machinist or toolroom technician with the spindle stopped and machine power locked out per shop lockout/tagout procedures. Use the appropriate Torx or hex key specified by the toolholder manufacturer when tightening the clamping screw; do not overtighten, as this can damage the insert seat or screw threads. Inspect the pocket seat for chips or wear before seating a new insert. Confirm correct insert hand orientation (right-hand) before engaging the workpiece.
