The ISCAR 5603748 is a solid carbide milling insert with manufacturer part number QDMT 120524PDTN-M in grade IC928. It belongs to the HELIQUAD series and carries a TiAlN coating applied via PVD process. The insert features a square shape with a 90-degree included angle, a positive rake angle of 22 degrees, and a T-Land cutting edge style with a 15-degree relief angle. Four cutting edges are available per insert, and the neutral hand orientation makes it straightforward to index. Primary target materials are steel, stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium, aligning with the IC928 grade characteristics. The insert is held in the cutter body by a screw clamp method and is single-sided.
This insert is designed for demanding milling applications in steel, stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium — material groups P, M, and S under ISO classification. It is suited for face milling and shoulder milling operations requiring consistent chip control, delivered here by the M chip breaker geometry. The positive rake and T-Land edge prep reduce cutting forces on difficult-to-machine alloys. A maximum depth of cut of 0.394 inches and a cutting edge effective length of 0.4055 inches define the working envelope. Professionals running high-productivity milling programs on machining centers will find this insert compatible with multiple cutter body platforms.
Designed for use with HELIQUAD series cutter bodies. Stated cutter series compatibility includes FDN, FST, SDN, SSB, SDK, and F90SD platforms. Conforms to ANSI and ISO 13399 standards with ANSI code QDMT 120524PDTN-M IC928 and ISO code QDMT 120524PDTN-M.
Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before indexing or replacing inserts. Use the correct torx or hex key driver as specified by the cutter body manufacturer for the insert screw to avoid over-torquing the clamp screw. Inspect the insert pocket and screw threads for chips or damage before seating the new insert.
