Product Description

The ISCAR 5603736 is a solid carbide milling insert carrying grade IC908 with a TiAlN coating applied via PVD process. Designated QDMT 120516PDTN-M under both ANSI and ISO 13399 standards, this square-shaped insert features a positive rake angle of 22 degrees, a T-Land cutting edge style, and a 15-degree relief angle. With four usable cutting edges per insert and a corner radius of 0.0630 inches (1.60 mm), it delivers controlled chip formation across a broad range of workpiece materials. The insert is held in place by a screw and is designed for single-sided use in compatible HELIQUAD-series milling bodies.

This insert is suited for milling steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials. The M chip breaker geometry supports moderate cutting conditions and varied depths of cut up to 0.3940 inches, making it appropriate for face milling, shoulder milling, and pocketing operations in both production shops and maintenance environments. It is installed by machinists and toolroom technicians in CNC machining centers and manual mills. Compatible cutter bodies include the FDN, FST, SDN, SSB, SDK, and F90SD series.

Key Features

  • IC908 submicron carbide grade with TiAlN PVD coating for wear resistance across mixed material applications
  • Four cutting edges per insert for extended tool life and lower cost per edge
  • Positive 22-degree rake angle and T-Land edge prep for controlled entry and reduced cutting forces
  • M chip breaker geometry supports a maximum depth of cut of 0.3940 inches
  • Neutral hand orientation with screw-clamp holding for secure, repeatable seating
  • Conforms to ANSI and ISO 13399 standards for broad toolholder compatibility

Compatibility

Designed for use with ISCAR HELIQUAD-series cutter bodies, specifically the FDN, FST, SDN, SSB, SDK, and F90SD series. Applicable workpiece materials include steel (P), stainless steel (M), cast iron (K), superalloys and titanium (S), and hard materials (H).

Installation Notes

Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before seating or removing inserts. Use the appropriate torx or hex key to tighten the clamping screw to the torque specified in the ISCAR cutter body documentation — do not estimate torque. Inspect the insert pocket and seating surface for chips or debris before installing a fresh insert to ensure proper contact and runout.
