The ISCAR 5603644 is a solid carbide milling insert carrying grade IC910, designed for high-productivity tangential milling operations. The insert features an AlTiN coating applied via PVD process, which supports extended tool life when cutting steel and cast iron. It uses a butterfly (LNAT) insert style with a negative rake angle of 27 degrees and a honed cutting edge, delivering consistent chip formation at depth. With four usable cutting edges and a double-sided configuration, the 5603644 is suited for licensed machinists and tooling technicians running shoulder and face milling cutters in production environments.
This insert is intended for milling steel and cast iron workpieces in both roughing and finishing contexts. It belongs to the TANGMILL series and is compatible with SSB-LN15 and F90LN cutter bodies. The MM chip breaker geometry is optimized for those primary workpiece materials. Typical applications include shoulder milling at 90-degree included angles in shop or manufacturing environments where consistent edge engagement and controlled chip evacuation are required.
Designed for use with SSB-LN15 and F90LN cutter bodies in the TANGMILL series. Conforms to ANSI code LNAT 150616PN-N MM IC910 and ISO 13399 standards. Insert size code is 150616.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or tooling technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before seating or indexing inserts. Use the correct torx or hex key to the cutter body manufacturer's specified fastener procedure when driving the clamping screw. Inspect the insert pocket seating surface for chips or debris before installing a new edge to ensure proper seating and runout.
