The ISCAR 5603496 is a solid carbide milling insert carrying the ANSI designation HM90 APKT 100330PDR IC328. It belongs to the HELI2000 series and is designed for use in HM90-10 compatible cutter bodies. The insert features a parallelogram shape with an 85-degree included angle, a positive rake geometry, and a PDR chip breaker configuration. The cutting edges are honed for edge integrity. A PVD-applied TiCN coating delivers wear resistance across a range of demanding workpiece materials. With two cutting edges per insert and a right-hand orientation, it is suited for productive face and shoulder milling operations performed by machining professionals.
This insert is intended for milling steel, stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium, corresponding to ISO material groups P, M, and S. The positive rake and PDR chip breaker geometry help manage chip flow and cutting forces when working with these materials. It is a single-sided insert held in the cutter body by a screw clamp. Typical applications include medium to finish milling passes on machining centers in both job-shop and production environments. The maximum depth of cut reaches 0.3620 inches (8.00 mm), making it capable of productive material removal within its size class.
Designed for use with HM90-10 series cutter bodies. ANSI code HM90 APKT 100330PDR IC328; ISO code HM90 APKT 100330PDR. Compatible with material grades C2, C3, C5, and C6 application classifications.
Installation is performed by machinists or tooling technicians using the appropriate Torx or hex key for the clamping screw specified by the cutter body manufacturer. Ensure the pocket seat is clean and free of chips before seating the insert to maintain proper geometry and runout. Do not exceed the cutter body manufacturer's recommended speed and feed parameters for the insert size and workpiece material combination. Inspect the insert pocket and screw for wear or damage when rotating or replacing inserts.
