The ISCAR 5603474 is a solid carbide milling insert in the HM90 ADKT 150516-PDR geometry, grade IC908, designed for high-productivity face and shoulder milling operations. The insert measures 0.614 inches long, 0.380 inches wide (inscribed circle), and 0.233 inches thick, with a 0.063-inch corner radius. Its PVD-applied TiAlN coating provides thermal and wear resistance across demanding cutting applications. The positive rake geometry and honed cutting edge reduce cutting forces and extend tool life. Right-hand cutting orientation with a PDR chip breaker geometry supports chip control in a variety of workpiece materials. This insert is held in the cutter body by a screw-clamp method and is single-sided with two cutting edges per insert.
The ISCAR 5603474 is suited for milling steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials, covering ISO material groups P, M, K, S, and H. It is used in the HELI2000 HM90-15 cutter series for applications in aerospace, die and mold, general machining, and heavy-duty production environments. The maximum depth of cut is 0.472 inches (12.00 mm), making it appropriate for moderate to aggressive material removal passes. Machinists and CNC operators in job shops and production facilities will encounter this insert in horizontal and vertical milling centers running high-feed face mill or shoulder mill toolpaths.
Designed for use in the ISCAR HM90-15 cutter series (HELI2000 platform). The ANSI code for this insert is HM90 ADKT 150516PDR IC908 and the ISO code is HM90 ADKT 150516PDR. Confirm cutter body pocket size and insert seat geometry before installation.
Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and all energy is locked out before changing inserts. Seat the insert fully into the pocket and tighten the clamping screw to the torque value specified in the cutter body documentation — do not estimate. Inspect the insert seat and clamping screw threads for debris or wear before installation to ensure proper seating and runout.
